Supporting Mentor’s Students—and Our Community
Mentor Public Schools prepare students for success after graduation—whether that means college, career training, military service, or entering the workforce. Our schools—consistently rated 4.5 out of 5 stars by the state of Ohio—provides strong academics, extracurricular opportunities, career pathways, and safe learning environments that families expect and students deserve.
While state funding for public schools continues to shrink, the needs of our students continue to grow—and we cannot bridge that gap without additional funding.
Rising costs, flat revenue, and years of careful budgeting have stretched our resources as far as they can go. To maintain the quality of education our community values—and to protect the opportunities available to our students—we need additional support.
Mentor has always taken pride in its schools. With your support, we can continue providing the high-quality education our students need and our community expects.
What's at Stake?
The district has already made $10 million in cuts, including the consolidation of elementary buildings, reductions in staffing, benefits, and other expenses. If the levy fails, our district will have to cut an additional $9.6 to $14.4 million, with cuts including:

137 positions
(teachers, staff, admins, school resource officers, counselors, etc.)
Reduction of more bus routes
Reduction of salaries and benefits
Reduction or elimination of some sports, activities, clubs, and other extracurriculars
Reduction or elimination of elementary specials

And for people to say that nothing has been done to cut expenses is wrong! The schools haven't had an increase in property taxes in 10 years. Somebody's got to start speaking up about this! We can't put our heads in the sand."
